We have installed a 9-hole, par-3 course with 5 permanent Innova DISCatcher Pro baskets in the South Mountain Park (next to the library, rink, tennis courts). The drive is about 35 minutes south from Ottawa.

The course has longs and shorts with red-brick tee markers in the ground which display the hole number and distance.

The course offers challenging treed alley and alcove shots combined with some good long bombs. It even has a dramatic hole placed atop a steep hill. It caters to all skill levels and provides a good balance of righty and lefty shots.

There is no course map up yet so I'll try and post something soon along with some photos. Anyway, come on out and try it, we'd be happy to join you for a couple rounds . . .

The Mountain Boys

Directions:

S-B Hwy 416 to exit 34 (Kemptville), turn left
E-B County Road 43 to Mountain Road, turn right
S-B Mountain Road (Cty Rd 1) to South Mountain, turn left
E-B Main Street, park on your left about 200m next to tennis courts.

Hole Descriptions:

1 goes from E end of the concrete pad to the NE corner beside hill (hole 1/9)
2 goes from there to the wooded alcove hole in the N forest (hole 2/8
3 goes from the far NW corner to the top of the hill (hole 3/7)
4 goes from the hilltop to the SW corner (hole 4/6)
5 goes S into the wooded alley to the library (hole 5)
6 goes N from there back out the alley to the SW corner (hole 4/6)
7 goes from the far SW corner to the top of the hill (hole 3/7)
8 goes from W side of the concrete pad to the N alcove (hole 2/8
9 goes from just W of the alcove entrance to behind the hill (hole 1/9)

Look for the red brick markers and you'll figure it out. Inside the rink, inside the tennis court, inside the playground, and over the East fence into the private backyard are all out-of-bounds . . .

Likely 18 tee-pads, 5 baskets. Some holes share endpoints.

Thanks for the interest! Just Google South Mountain, you'll find it. Very easy to get to:

S-B Hwy 416 to exit 34 (Kemptville), turn left
E-B County Road 43 to Mountain Road, turn right
S-B Mountain Road (Cty Rd 1) to South Mountain, turn left
E-B Main Street, park on your left about 200m next to tennis courts.

As for the course, yes there are 5 baskets, 4 of which are used twice as ending points. We're working on future holes, but funds allowed only 5 baskets so far. Its still a fun course and worth the drive. There's a gas station/beer/liquor store one minute away, and of course the legendary Mountain Station Pizza (613-989-2930) is on the way down in the Village of Mountain!!

Awesome, thanks Mountain boys!

So what's the protocol to swinging by? Do you want people to check in with you first, or is it public access, etc?
