Thank you for taking the time to notify the Ottawa disc golf community of your upcoming event. The follow is a summary of what your notice must include.

The ODGC offers this forum as a service to the greater disc golf community. If you are planning on hosting a disc golf event, you are welcome to provide notice of it here. Events posted here must conform with the following:

  • Your event must be a disc golf event, or an event related to disc golf.
  • All posts related to your event must conform to the terms of use of this forum.
  • You must disclose your event's scheduling details: date, start time, and meeting location.
  • There is a prescribed time limit which is the latter of I) 72 hours following first notice of your event; and II) 28 days prior to the start of the event, in which the following information must be provided:
    • The costs associated with attending your event, if any.
    • The primary beneficiary of your event.
  • The ODGC, its directors, its agents, and its members assumes NO responsibility and NO liability for any event advertised using this forum.
The primary beneficiary of your event is defined as the non-playing entity that stands to receive the greatest pecuniary benefit from the operations of your tournament.

In identifying the primary beneficiary, we advise that you use a simple phrase. For example: "The proceeds from this event will benefit the Springfield Disc Golf Association" or "The proceeds from this event will benefit the Red Mountain Disc Golf Store".

If your event is being run without a beneficiary, you may identify your event as running without retention of benefit, and in so doing, satisfy your requirement to identify the primary beneficiary. For example, you could use the following statement to identify the primary beneficiary: "This event is being run without the retention of a benefit".

The ODGC recommends that you disclose the following information in the following format with your event announcement:
  • Title: Use the format: "Event Title: Location, Date"
    example: "The Oak Leaf Open: Wellington Park, August 11"
  • Scheduling Details: Date or dates, start time, location.
  • Registration: The start and end times of when player can register for the event, and where they must be to do so. Also, the cost of registration for the tournament or event.
  • Disc Golf Details: Details of your event that make it unique or exciting.
  • Sanctioning and Affiliation: Details regarding professional sanctioning, and club affiliation. Disclosure of the primary beneficiary should go here.
  • Tournament Services: Details about how lunch will be provided, overnight camping, etc.
  • Divisions: What divisions are open for registration. If there are different fees for different divisions, you should detail them here.
  • Contact: A way of contacting the tournament director through email or telephone.
  • Insurance: Disclosure of the insurance provider of the event.
  • Special Notices: Details that a traveling player should know about.
    Examples: This course is on a mountain: Hiking shoes are highly recommended.
    Wellington Park is a garbage-free park and operates as a pack-in, pack-out facility. Please take measures to accommodate this and keep our park clean.
