Yes, it's time to think about playing in the ice and snow... but luckily enough for us, we've got warm weather on the horizon and several weekends of playing before mother nature sends us that other fun stuff that we so enjoy here in the great white north.

To kick off this season, and to help Old Man River fill up the Fright Flight Flat Mountain tournament this weekend, our season-long ranking for the Ice League will start this Saturday at FFFM.

No additional fees are needed for this kickoff event - we just want to get started with a fun atmosphere, and get lots of people on the ranking. However, we'll have an Ice Putt station in place all day, with the winner taking half the proceeds, and the Ice Bowl's charity, The Ottawa Food Bank, getting the balance. No Ice League Mulligans or SYN cards will be available until week #2. Cost for competing in the optional 9-station Ice Putt remains at $2/round, up to a maximum of 3 rounds for $5.

The Ice League Ranking will be similar to what we ran last season, but we'll include your top-6 events instead of your top-5, with points earned at the Ice Bowl itself counting as double. We're likely to have a few bonus activities around the holiday season as well, but they'll all be announced here in the tournament threads, so keep an eye out for those bonus-point days.

We'll be moving around the Ice League events around to at least six different locations throughout the series, including events at:

- Jacques Cartier Park (Gatineau, QC)
- Flat Mountain (Mountain, ON)
- Gardenway Park (Orleans, ON)
- Superspin (Ettyville, ON)
- Kanata Disc Golf Course (Kanata, ON)
- The Shire (Carp, ON)

The top-6 players on the final Ice League rankings will get bonus Ice Bucks to be used on some awesome prizes at our 6th Ice Auction at Ottawa Ice Bowl VI.

This week, we'll be making random teams after the first round at FFFM based on your scores on that round. Scores will be ranked from top to bottom, and the top half and bottom half of the players will get put in to two hats for a random team pairing of "advanced" and "intermediate" players between round 1 and 2. We'll use the 'Carl's Mystery Craps' method to determine which holes get assigned to the "advanced" and "intermediate" players from the teams.

Last year's final Ice League ranking

The 2nd Ice League event will be held on the following Saturday, November 11th, starting at noon at Jacques Cartier Park. The Ice Putt stations will be ready to go from 11:30 onwards for those wanting to warm up early.

Let's fill up Fright Flight Flat Mountain... for full details and to sign up, check out this thread...

We'll announce a few new ideas that we have in store for you over the course of the next few weeks. You'll enjoy Ice League season!!!
