Since its first year in 2002, the Capital Classic has been the ODGC's most prominent annual event. It has found homes at Jacques Cartier Park Disc Golf Course, Camp Fortune Disc Golf Course, and in 2008, they played at both!
Sanctioned as a B-Tier event, and an ODSA Provincial Disc Golf Gold Series Event, it is Ottawa’s only PDGA tournament and attracts a fair amount of traveling players looking for a challenging course. The 2005 Capital Classic had an Ottawa record of 89 participants from all over North America!
And this year, the CC brings the biggest disc golf news in Ottawa disc golf history; The Capital Classic 2011 will be a United States Disc Golf Championship Qualifier!
TDed again this year by Rob Wormald (Twirly), the Classic will be battled on the Hill (CF DGC), June 25th and 26th. Camp Fortune DGC was installed on the Camp Fortune ski hill in 2005 and has undergone many layout changes since its inception. It is Ottawa’s most difficult course with rough terrain, extreme elevations and tough pin placements. This is no walk in the park!
The 2011 Capital Classic will be the first Tier 1 event in the 2011 Presidents Cup Series. The champion will add 1000+ points to their PC totals.
Post your intent to keep the crown in Ottawa, here.

FAQ: For the Presidents Cup Race and the Capital Classic, will only current ODGC members be eligible for the available points?
For example, if JJ comes and wins, but isn't a member, and Disco comes in 2nd, would Eric recieve the top points for his PC totals, or second place points?
Answer: If JJ comes in first, which he won't, he gets the first place points (1000+ points) and Eric, the second place finisher, gets second place points. You get what you earn. It would end up with 1000+ points "lost". This happened at the 2009 Capital Classic. |
